Singapore Gymnastics Development Programme (SGDP)

The Singapore Gymnastics Development Programme (SGDP) for WAG, MAG and RG, was introduced in 2019. Since then, the programme has continued to develop and grow.

The goals of the programme are threefold:

  1.  Inspire Gymnasts
  2.  Develop Coaches
  3. Engage Clubs

The SGDP is an ANNUAL PROGRAMME, with information and education for coaches, athletes and parents throughout the year, as well as training camps in June and November.

The aim of the SGDP is to develop the next generation of athletes and coaches through engaging in pre-junior ages, so they are better equipped to join the High-Performance Pathway in Junior divisions in the future.

The focus of the programme is on long term development. Success is driven through the work done by coach and athlete every day in the gym, and the better quality this work is, the better the long term outcome.

Through this programme, SG will build the capacity and capability of our clubs, as well as implement long term tracking of athlete development, to ensure our athletes and coaches are better equipped for future success.

Invitations for the annual programme will be made to athletes competing at National Championships who fit the criteria below for 2025:

  •  A maximum of 24 athletes will be selected for SGDP.
  • The goal is to select the top 3 athletes per level and per age group, provided they meet the specific requirements.
  • If more than 24 gymnasts qualify based on the criteria, the selection process will begin from the lowest level (Level 4) and progress systematically to the highest level (Pre-Junior). First, the qualified Level 4 gymnasts will be placed, followed by Level 5, and so on. If a Level 4 gymnast declines the invitation, her spot will be offered to the next gymnast at the same level who has met the required AAI score. If no eligible Level 4 gymnast is available, the spot will be offered to a Level 5 gymnast who meets the points requirement.
  • This selection process prioritises younger gymnasts, allowing for greater influence on their development.
  • Two (2) wildcard spots will be allocated to athletes who may not have met the specific requirements but were identified as talented prospects during the National Championships.
