2020 National Championships Cancelled

Published Fri 05 Jun 2020

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the staging of the National Championships 2020 is cancelled. This was a very difficult decision to make, but we deem the safety of our athletes of utmost priority and importance.

Originally, the Championships scheduled for March 2020 were postponed until September 5-13. However, as we still face uncertainty especially with no decisive time when our clubs will be able to open their doors and start gymnastics classes, the Board and staff of Singapore Gymnastics have made careful deliberation and decided to cancel the 2020 National Championships. This decision was made considering the guidance from health experts on safe practises for return to training.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to our treasured partners for the continued trust and support and we look forward to the exciting collaborations we will showcase on our timeless stage once again.

This does not mean a pause in our duties, the Team at Singapore Gymnastics will now turn their attention to preparing for a bumper 2021 National Championships and the Gymnastics Carnival in November this year.

The inaugural Gymnastics Carnival is a mass participation event that will involve all disciplines, all ages and all abilities. The Gymnastics Carnival scheduled for the 7-8 November 2020 will include the GymFest, Gym Challenge, our newly introduced Gymnastics for All programme - TeamGym, along with the realization of a Club Carnival for the lower level gymnasts of our disciplines.

The Gymnastics Carnival will enable all gymnasts around Singapore to come together to enjoy two days of fast, fun-filled gymnastics where the emphasis is on fun and friendship! After the year we have had we believe this will be a great way for the community to reconnect.

Celebrating gymnastics and its power to uplift our indomitable spirit in this time of need, transcends beyond our events. We are one with you in this global fight against our collective invisible enemy and we will come out of this stronger than ever.

The medals may rest but our mission to promoting gymnastics as a sport and experience for all persists.

Stay safe and healthy!

More information can be found on the website and we will be releasing the full programme and schedule next week. Should you require more information, you may contact the Team at sgoffice@singaporegymnastics.org.sg.
