At this year’s AGM the Singapore Gymnastics Board will be looking for people who share a passion for and are ready to contribute to the growth and development of the sport of Gymnastics in Singapore. We will be seeking to fill seven (7) elected director positions and the preferred people will be those who can demonstrate experience and skills in the areas of legal, finance, marketing, fundraising and governance.

Potential Directors will need to be ready to make an active contribution to the board, think laterally and strategically, and contribute effectively to decision making.

Singapore Gymnastics (SG) is an association registered with the Registry of Societies and gazetted as the National Sports Association for gymnastics in Singapore. SG is also a registered Charity and has received the status of Institution of a Public Character (IPC). SG operates in accordance with its Constitution solely for the purposes of furthering the Objects.

The primary role of the Board is to chart the strategic direction of SG and monitor management’s performance in implementing the strategy.  The Board’s job is to advance and protect the long-term interests of the organisation and the sport as a whole.

SG aims to lead and support the continuous growth of SG’s affiliated clubs, schools, members, gymnasts, coaches, officials, and volunteers.

The Board comprises seven Elected Directors and two Appointed Directors.

We are looking for passionate people with strategic outlook and leadership with expertise in any or some of the following:

• Fundraising experience
  • Background and/or experience in fundraising.
  • Ability to work networks and bring in additional support for SG.
• Marketing & PR expertise and experience
  • Experience in marketing and public relations that can further drive the strategic messaging that can lead to revenue growth
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance on brand strategy, customer insights and e-commerce.
• Financial expertise
  • Strong business and commercial acumen (ability to make astute business decisions)
  • Fully qualified accountant - Member of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or Member of ISCA (Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants)
• Governance expertise
  • Experience, and an understanding of working ideally at a senior management of Board level in a community sport environment.
  •  Strength and experience in corporate and/or sport governance policies and procedures and oversight of compliance practices.
• Legal expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to put legal issues in a larger strategic context and provide practical advice.
  • Ability to lead Board discussions on compliance relating to director duties and responsibilities.
• General expertise
  • Strong sporting community networks / relationships (at various levels)
  • A broad range of sports business management experience in the private and public sector.

Please note Clause 10.2 of the Constitution of Singapore Gymnastics, nominations must be proposed by a Voting Member and according to clause 10.3 nominees are required to be a Member of Singapore Gymnastics
