First-year Senior, Mikayla Yang participated in the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Valencia, Spain. The competition runs from 23rd August – 27th August 2023.
Mikalya qualified for the 2023 World Championships through her performance at the 2023 Rhythmic Gymnastocs Asian Championships, which was hosted in Manila in May this year. For Rhythmic Gymnastics athletes were required to compete in their respective Continental Championships and different to Artistic as the quota allocations are nominative and therefor granted to to the federation and not the athlete.
Mikayla’s performance at Asian Championships secured the quota for Singapore and then being the top ranked Singapore athlete secured her individual place for the 2023 World Championships.
The Asian continental allocations for 2023 were as follows:
- Quota placed for 2 to 3 individual gymnasts: 5
- Quota places for 1 individual gymnasts: 7 (Singapore was allocated this quota)
This was Mikayla’s debut in the World Championships, and we are proud to announce her results:
- 46th Individual All Around
- 28.700 on Hoop
- 28.600 on Ball
- 25.750 on Clubs
- 25.500 on Ribbon
