2025 Dates and Invitation Criteria for the Singapore Gymnastics Development Programme (SGDP)

The Singapore Gymnastics Development Programme (SGDP) for Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), and Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) is set to continue its success in 2025, with training camps scheduled for June and November. Since its inception in 2019, the SGDP has been integral in fostering the growth and development of both athletes and coaches, helping them progress towards higher levels of performance within Singapore’s gymnastics community.

 

SGDP Goals and Focus

The programme’s goals are centred on three core areas:

  1. Inspire Gymnasts
  2. Develop Coaches
  3. Engage Clubs

 

As part of the broader vision, SGDP supports the long-term development of athletes and coaches, providing them with the necessary resources and support to join the High-Performance Pathway in the future. The programme emphasizes the importance of quality work done in training every day, knowing that long-term success in gymnastics is built on solid foundational development.

 

2025 SGDP Camp Dates

SGDP training camps for 2025 will be held as follows:

  • Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG)
    • Camp 1: 24/06/2025 – 27/06/2025
    • Camp 2: 25/11/2025 – 28/11/2025
  • Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)
    • Camp 1: 09/06/2025 – 12/06/2025
    • Camp 2: 08/12/2025 – 11/12/2025
  • Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG)
    • Camp 1: 03/06/2025 – 06/06/2025
    • Camp 2: 16/12/2025 – 19/12/2025

 

These camps are an essential part of the SGDP, providing athletes with valuable training and exposure that will help them progress in their gymnastics journey.

 

Invitation Criteria for 2025

Invitations to participate in the SGDP for 2025 will be extended to athletes who meet the following criteria, based on their performance at the National Championships.

 

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG)

  • Age and Level Requirements:
    • 12 years: Stage 4 or higher, Level 4 or higher
    • 11 years: Stage 3 or higher
    • 10 years: Stage 2 or higher, Level 3 or higher
    • 9 years: Stage 1 or higher, Level 2 or higher

 

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)

Shortlisted WAG athletes must meet ALL of the following criteria to be invited to SGDP:

  • Age and Performance Criteria:
    • 9-10 years (Level 4): Top 3 athletes from each age group and level, with a minimum IAA score of 30.00
    • 9-10 years (Level 5): Minimum IAA score of 30.00
    • 10-12 years (Level 6-10): Top 3 athletes from each age group (e.g. top 3 ten-year-olds), with a minimum IAA score of 28.00
    • 10-12 years (Pre-Junior/Sub-Junior): Minimum IAA score of 28.00
  • Selection Process:
    • A maximum of 24 athletes will be selected for SGDP.
    • If more than 24 gymnasts meet the criteria, selection will proceed from Level 4 upwards.
    • Wildcard Spots: Two spots will be allocated to athletes identified as talented prospects during the National Championships.

 

Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG)

  • Age Requirements and Performance Criteria:
    • Age 7-11: Top 8 athletes from each age group will be selected. Athletes must compete in all apparatus for their respective age group.
  • IAAs:
    • No minimum IAA score will be required for entry in 2025 due to the introduction of a new code of points.
