Message from the Board of Directors

This is an update from the 5th Board Meeting, held online on Thursday, 24 June 21.

  1. The board approved the following policies:
    1. Amended Selection policies for 2021 SEA Games and Junior Asian Games due to cancellation of SG Open.
    2. The revised National Squad Policy for FY20/21, which has been amended to accommodate the cancellation of SG Open.
    3. The 2021 Commonwealth Games and Asian Games selection policy.
    4.  The Whistle Blowing Policy which was updated as part of the systemic review of all policies to ensure best practices.
  2. In preparation for the 2021 Annual General Meeting, the Board approved the auditor for FY21/22 that will be tabled for approval at the AGM.
  3. The Board discussed the Potential Director information session to be held on 28 June 2021, to make it a useful platform for members and interested candidates to better understand the role, skill sets and commitment required for Board members and Sub-committees.
  4. Discussion was also held on the role of the Governance Committee, who have in their purview the role of a “Nominations Committee”, who will assist in identifying, recruiting, screening and interviewing candidates for the Board.
  5. With the current Covid restrictions the Board made the decision to delay the 2021 AGM until the Saturday 14 August when it is hoped that attendance will no longer need to be restricted. The Board is keen that Voting Members are offered an opportunity to attend the AGM, should they wish to.
  6. The Fundraising Conceptual plan was further fine-tuned with clear timelines outlined to ensure Singapore Gymnastics will meet the fundraising targets for FY21/22.
  7. The Fundraising & PR committee tabled the presentation deck for Sponsors and Donors with the intent that Directors will begin to identify and approach potential donors in the upcoming months.
  8. With SG currently in the last year of a 4 year Strategic Plan, the Board scheduled a meeting to finalise the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan review in July.
  9. The Board discussed the need to source potential candidates to join the Facilities Committee who will be taking on a key strategic role over the next few years developing the home for the National Training Centre.

Kind regards
