This is an update from the 4th Board Meeting, held online on Monday, 24 May 21, as we observed stricter Safe Management Measures during this time of Heightened Alert.

  1. The board approved the following updates to policies:
  1. Complaints Policy (P009) which aims to ensure an accessible and clear complaints process, and to encourage a commitment to service improvement.
  2. Member Protection Policy (P031) which aims to ensure the safety and well being of all members of the gym community.
  1. President gave an update on the Charity Transparency framework and how the Board will be working on this.
  2. The board examined Financial Statements for SG at the end of year FY20/21, and approved the allocation of a portion of surplus into restricted reserves.
  3. Board approved the budget for FY 21/22.
  4. The Board discussed the upcoming AGM and the skills required for Board members, considering this the Governance Committee as per their TOR will take on the role as a Nominations Committee. The Board also discussed two forums/town halls that will be conducted that are connected to the 2021 AGM
  1. 21 June – Townhall for Voting Members to present the proposed changes to the Constitution and the role of the Nominations Committee
  2. 28 June - Iinformation Session for anyone interested in being part of the SG Board or one of the sub-committees
  1. The Fundraising & PR sub-committee presented the Fundraising Concept Plan, which proposed strategies to increase financial independence for SG. This included the cultivating of Patrons for SG, and a Patron Group. This concept plan was approved by the Board, with Board members agreeing to support the plan by putting forth suggestions or leads for Patrons.
  2. The Board will be looking to set up a facilities committee to assist with the drive to have a home for gymnastics.

The board has worked on improving governance, finance, auditing, and other major systems. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we are cautiously optimistic that SG will be able to keep moving forward and aim to scale new heights.
