Published Fri 07 May 2021

In accordance with the Stricter Safe Management Measures for Sport and Physical Exercise & Activity issued on 6 May 2021, Singapore Gymnastics' Sport-specific Safe Management Plan has been updated and approved by SportSG and all gymnastics clubs must adhere to the new guidelines put forth as of 8th May 2021.

The summary of updates made are:

  • Gymnastics clubs are not classified as an indoor gym or fitness studio, therefore their business may open as usual. However, if a club's business registration has Fitness Centre and Gymnasium in the listed activities, these clubs may be affected by the new guidelines. As long as the nature of the club's business activities during this period is only as a gymnastics club and not an indoor gym or fitness stuido, they can continue to open.
  • Facilities can only admit a maximum number of persons according to its Gross Floor Area based on 10 Sqm per person. No facility, regardless of size, shall admit more than 50 persons. The Gross Floor Area includes exercise spaces, as well as other spaces such as changing rooms, rest areas within the facility.
  • Each bubble of 5 gymnasts is allowed 1 coach. If clubs are to be in a situation where 1 coach needs to oversee 2 bubbles concurrently, safe management measures applies.
  • In addition to the implementation of Safe Entry/Exit at each venue, and the use of “TraceTogether” app to facilitate contact tracing, from 17 May 2021 onwards all participants and staff are to use either the TraceTogether app or the TraceTogether tokens for safe entry.
  • Maximum group size allowed is limited 5 gymnasts (coach not included).
  • Staff to be working from home as much as possible.
  • Masks should be worn as a default. Masks can be taken off when performing strenuous exercise, although it is still recommended to not unmask as good practice even under such circumstances.
