Coaches, have you got your Standard First Aid up to date?

Published Sun 23 Aug 2020

It is important for all active coaches to be Standard First Aid certified for themselves as well as their athletes. Coaches may encounter incidences of emergency or injury during the course of coaching. Thus it is essential that coaches are trained in the knowledge and skills in Standard First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and usage of Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This will better prepare coaches for emergency situations and manage the risks involved in sports coaching. It is also a requirement of Sport Singapore that all NROC-registered coaches to have a valid Standard First Aid certificate. More information about the importance of SFA can be found on https://www.sportsingapore.gov.sg/athletes-coaches/coaches-corner/national-registry-of-coaches/accredited-standard-first-aid-with-aed-courses on the SportSG website.

COVID has previous placed a halt on many events and trainings ongoing, including Standard First Aid (SFA) training sessions. We understand many coaches' SFA accreditation may be expring within these few months. The good news is many of the SFA training providers are back in operation and an even better news is there are SFA Refrsher Course E-Learning for NROC coaches out there available.

One such provider is Aaxonn Training & Consultancy, who is currently providing SFA Refrsher Course E-Learning for NROC coaches where Skillsfuture funding is available for NROC coaches. On top of that they receive a complimentary Adidas gym bag worth $30. Click on the follow link https://www.aaxonn.com/skills-registration for more information and to register. Aaxonn Training & Consultancy is also recognised under The Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) that ensures they have met the requirements for training facilities and training standards.

That said, there are many other recognised training providers under SRFAC which can be found https://srfac.sg/

Upon successful completion/renewal of your SFA accreditation, please write in to sgoffice@singaporegymnastics.org.sg so that we can keep your SG records up to date.

Together we continue to build a safe training environment for our athletes.
