How to Collect Continuing Coach Education (CCE) hours: Exploring the Pathways to Professional Growth

Published Fri 20 Sep 2024

In the rapidly evolving field of coaching, continuous learning is essential to stay relevant and maintain professional credentials. Continuing Coach Education (CCE) is vital for coaches to stay updated on the latest techniques and best practices, refine their approaches, and enhance the value they offer to clients. It's essential for maintaining membership with the National Registry of Coaches (NROC) and is a key way for both seasoned and novice coaches to deepen their knowledge and meet ongoing professional development requirements. Understanding the requirements and various avenues for collecting CCE credits is crucial for every coach's growth.

Please note CCE hours are approved by CoachSG. Uploading of CCE hours into SportSync is self-initiated.

Avenues to Collect Continuing Coach Education hours

1. Coaching Workshops and Seminars

Attending workshops or seminars, either in-person or online, is one of the most popular ways to earn CCE credits. These events typically cover a wide range of topics and are pre-approved for CCE credits.

Examples:

2. Online Courses and Webinars

In today's digital age, online learning platforms offer a convenient and flexible way to gather CCE hours.

Examples:

  • ·        Platforms like Udemy, Coursera, and Alison offer courses that could be eligible for CCE credits if documented properly.
  • ·      Learners MUST furnish information related to the course content and articulate its application to their coaching practice for CoachSG to evaluate its suitability as a CCE activity via CoachSG’s reflection template

3. Self-Directed Learning

Self-directed learning, such as reading coaching books, listening to industry-related podcasts, or attending professional development meetings, can also count toward your CCE hours. However, these activities must often be aligned and approved by CoachSG

Examples:

  • ·        Reading a book on advanced coaching techniques and reflecting on how you applied the concepts in your practice could be eligible for CCE credits if documented properly.
  • ·        Learners MUST furnish information related to the course content and articulate its application to their coaching practice for CoachSG to evaluate its suitability as a CCE activity via CoachSG’s reflection template

How to Track Your CCE Credits

It’s important to keep a thorough record of all your CCE activities, including certificates, course descriptions, and the number of hours completed where applicable.

  • ·        Pro tip: Create a digital folder or spreadsheet to track your CCE credits over time. Most organisations provide a certificate of completion, which you should store as proof of your continuing education.

NROC Membership Engagement

CoachSG organised a monthly in-person engagement session for members who need assistance with

  • ·        systems (SportSync or SportSG-ED) navigation or login issues
  • ·        membership application or upgrades
  • ·        programmes and offering
