The Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) convened its first meeting, setting a clear direction for future developments in gymnastics judging and program enhancements.
FIG Judges Courses:
- SG is authorised to send two judges to the Intercontinental Course and up to 15 judges to the international course for the 2025-2028 cycle.
- Lim Heem Wei and Yang Xiaoyun are confirmed to attend the Intercontinental Course in Lausanne in December 2024.
National Judges Courses and Reaccreditation:
- All judges must complete reaccreditation for 2025.
- Level 1 & 2 judges will participate in a half-day workshop and exam.
- Dates for reaccreditation and courses will be announced by August 2024.
- FIG judges will engage in these workshops to ensure alignment with the National Programme.
- The potential introduction of Level 3 accreditation will be explored, with a focus on linking it to competition experience.
National Programme Review:
- A Working Group has been established to evaluate whether the National Programme requires a major overhaul or a simpler revamp.
- Key priorities include enhancing quality and aligning with the new Code of Points (CoP). Strategies to increase participation in pre and sub-junior categories are being considered.
- A community survey will gather feedback to guide the Working Group’s decisions.
- A forum for Chinese coaches will also be organised to solicit their input.
Community Updates on FIG CoP:
- Updates for key community members will be provided before the Classic International competition in November 2024.
- A FIG Judges workshop is scheduled for October 5, 2024, and a workshop for National Squad coaches and athletes will follow on October 6, 2024.
Policy Review:
- TAC members will review critical policies on judges' accreditation, allocation, and conduct, with deadlines set for August 2024.
