In a heartening display of community spirit and support, athletes from the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics National Training Centre (MAG NTC) recently returned to their original training grounds at BazGym. This collaborative effort underscores the ongoing relationship between the two organisations and highlights the mutual benefits of nurturing young talent in gymnastics where BazGym actively feed talented athletes into the NTC programme in a collaborative approach.
On September 7 and 8, BazGym Gymnastics School hosted a vibrant and successful Gymnastics Carnival at the SAFRA Jurong Clubhouse. Over the school holiday weekend, the event attracted approximately 600 visitors and participants, marking a significant turnout for the celebration of gymnastics.
The carnival was designed to promote the sport and its numerous benefits. The lineup of activities included student showcases, free try-out sessions, challenge stations with enticing prizes and goodie bags, and impressive performances by gymnasts from BazGym’s MAG, WAG, and PhysioGym groups.
A special highlight of the event was the participation of former BazGym students who are now training with the MAG NTC. These athletes returned to their roots to deliver an exciting dance and tumbling performance, organised by Coach Park and Coach Ryo. Their performance captivated the audience, demonstrating the advanced skills and strength they have developed through their training.
Additionally, the carnival included an inspiring talk by Jovi Loh, a celebrated gymnast and Asian Championship medallist whose journey started at BazGym. The audience was captivated by Jovi’s account of his gymnastics experiences and achievements. His compelling presentation received enthusiastic applause, and he graciously answered questions from both the public and the host, fostering a strong connection with the attendees.
This event not only showcased the talent nurtured by BazGym but also reinforced the importance of giving back to the community that fosters young athletes. The collaboration between BazGym and the MAG NTC continues to be a testament to the dedication of both organisations to advancing the sport of gymnastics and supporting the growth of Singapore athletes.
