Liam has over a decade of experience in banking and capital markets before joining the start-up world and currently chairs the Finance and Investment committee for SG.
Beginning his career with Ernst & Young in Ireland, he trained as a chartered accountant as part of the assurance practise working with some of Europe’s leading banks and financial institutions. Following the completion of a Masters in Computational Finance, he joined Barclays Investment bank in Singapore with roles across syndicate lending and emerging markets distressed debt.
He joined a medical device start-up with roles of CFO and later CEO where he worked closely with the HSA and MOH and oversaw the launch of consumer healthcare products across major retail chains in the region.
Liam currently runs Karpenko Gymnastics Academy with his wife, Victoria where he has leveraged relationships with the MOH to develop gymnastics programs for the elderly and other segments of the Singapore society. He continues to be active in the world of healthcare and operates a company selling consumer products to diabetics’ while also consulting for early-stage start-ups.
After being co-opted into the Fundraising and PR committee, Liam expressed his interest in serving the gymnastics community with the experience he has developed during his career with the hope of boosting the popularity of the sport in the country and assisting the individual clubs become stronger.
