On behalf of all of us at SG, we can understand what all of you, including business owners are going through. We sympathize with you and feel for you.
To the best of our knowledge, the ministerial announcement about reverting to Phase 2 was made on an urgent and sudden mode in response to recent spike in cases.
Also, it was done in view of Mother’s Day celebration, Hari Raya Puasa, and Vesak Day around the corner. These events may exacerbate the situation.
SportSG have just released, today, their sport guidelines around the stricter safe management measures. Singapore Gymnastics is now working with SportSG to gain further clarification while upholding sports values and activities, as well as supporting clubs and other stakeholders. It is certainly not a matter that can be resolved within a short period.
The e-newsletter from SG, in particular information around SG Open was planned a while ago and released at a time when we were still grappling with the announcement and how SG and the Clubs would be affected.
We are also stressed about working in the dark and trying to make sense of the unknowns as we plan and prepare for different scenarios, while ensuring we can try to assist clubs to continue to operate, and athletes the opportunity to train and compete.
We are keeping close touch with SportSG and other relevant bodies, including other NSAs.
We will keep you duly informed once we receive any further information and clarification.
Our hearts and thoughts are with you. Please let us know if we can be of any help.
Thank you once again for your support and contribution.
As a family of Gymnastics, let’s battle this challenging period together and find ways to emerge more united, resilient and stronger.
We will be providing further information along with our updated Sport-specific Guidelines for Gymnastics in Singapore as soon as possible.
