On August 22, decorated Singapore gymnast Nadine Joy Nathan made a special visit to Henry Park Primary School to share her journey with Primary 5 and 6 students. Nadine, who has represented Singapore on the world stage at the World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and SEA Games, spoke about her experiences as both a student and a high-performing athlete.
During her visit, Nadine shared insights into her school life, discussing how she managed to balance the demands of her training schedule with her academic responsibilities. She highlighted the importance of time management, dedication, and perseverance—values that resonate deeply with students striving to find a balance between their studies and extracurricular activities.
Nadine also spoke about her transition from primary to secondary school, giving the students a glimpse into the challenges and opportunities that come with growing up. By reflecting on her journey from a young gymnast to a national athlete, Nadine hoped to inspire the students to pursue their passions and work hard towards their dreams.
The session began with Nadine's sharing from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by an interactive training and coaching session from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. During this time, Nadine engaged with the students, demonstrating some basic gymnastics skills and offering personalised tips to those interested in the sport. This hands-on experience allowed the students to learn directly from an elite athlete, further fuelling their enthusiasm for gymnastics and physical fitness.
Nadine Nathan's visit was not only an opportunity for the students to meet a national sports icon but also to gain valuable life lessons. Her story of balancing academics and athletics served as a powerful reminder that with passion, determination, and the right mindset, it's possible to achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
