National Registry of Coaches (NROC)

The NROC was created in 2003 to raise the standards and professionalism of sports coaching in Singapore. It aims to ensure that sport coaches have the technical qualifications and to ensure that practicing coaches continue to improve while providing a safe environment for their athletes.

*PLEASE NOTE: All coaches need to attain minimal NROC (Provisional) status by 31st DEC 2018.

  1. Values and Principles in Sport
  2. Standard First Aid and AED
  3. General Gymnastics (Technical)/MAG L1,2,3/WAG L1,2,3/RG L1,2,3/TRA L1,2, by Singapore Gymnastics

WHAT COURSES DO YOU NEED TO PASS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR FULL NROC REGISTRATION (For Gymnastics)

  1. General Gymnastics (Technical)/MAG L1,2,3/WAG L1,2,3/RG L1,2,3/TRA L1,2, by Singapore Gymnastics
  2. SG-Coach Level 1 Theory (By Singapore Gymnastics)
  3. Standard First Aid and AED
  4. Values and Principles in Sport*
  5. Basic Sports Science*

*Candidates would have to complete this course within 3 years on gaining PROVISIONAL NROC status

**If (2) was attained before 27th March 2015, BSS is not required

Values and Principles in Sport (VPS) workshop:

The VPS is a full-day course jointly organized by Sport Singapore and the Ministry of Education (MOE). This workshop aims to enable participants to design their own coaching philosophies and to design sport programmes with the ‘Game for Life’ framework and leverage values and attributes in the development of a successful sports team.

Basic Sports Science Course

The Basic Sports Science (BSS) course will introduce participants to various sports science concepts. Participants will be guided with theoretical knowledge and practical applications on Anatomy & Injury Preventon, as well as Strength & Conditioning.
