Singapore Gymnastics (SG) is pleased to announce that Mr Derek Mollison has been named President of the new 8 member Board of Directors of Singapore Gymnastics.
At the 2018 Annual General Meeting, Singapore Gymnastics made some changes to its Constitution in order to align the organisation with best practices in governance. These changes pave the way to a more inclusive organisation, empowering more stakeholders to put their support behind SG’s future developments. It should be highlighted that the changes in the Constitution in 2018 and adopted in 2019 were recognised by SportSG as a positive move in governance reform.
“SportSG welcomes Singapore Gymnastics’ move to proceed with its governance reform agenda by embarking on a comprehensive review of their Constitution. In this regard, Singapore Gymnastics has taken into consideration SportSG’s suggestions on the governance principles and best practices, so that their revamped constitution is aligned with the upcoming NSA governance guidelines. SportSG also lauds Singapore Gymnastics’ move to accept a wider section of its key stakeholders in its decision-making as a matter of good governance, as it is important that the NSAs’ voting membership has a fair representation of the community that is actively engaged with their sport.
SportSG hopes that Singapore Gymnastics will continue to press ahead with its governance reform agenda and multi-year sports plan for the achievement of our shared vision for Gymnastics in Singapore.”

It needs to be acknowledged that the former Management Committee led by Mr Choy Kah Kin was instrumental in changing the Constitution that now sees SG at the forefront of sport governance in Singapore. This same dedicated Management Committee have also put in place a strong Strategic Plan that will continue to steer the organisation in a direction that will see Gymnastics become one of the leading sports in Singapore in both high performance and participation. Singapore Gymnastics thanks the outgoing Management Committee for their valued experience, expertise and foresight over the past 2 years, and in particular President Mr Choy Kah Kin. This incumbent Board of Directors are indeed “Standing on the shoulders of giants”.
We very much look forward to SG’s next developmental leap. We can truly say “Start Here, Go Anywhere”!
