Published Fri 16 Aug 2024

In a recent board meeting, the Board addressed several important topics that are set to shape the organisation's future. The meeting covered engagements with government ministers, international congresses, and the development of strategic plans.

On July 19, the President proposed a select group of attendees for the Minister Engagement meeting, emphasising the critical need to discuss facilities that would benefit both the organisation and its affiliated club.

Looking ahead to the AGU Congress on September 21 in Shanghai, China, the President, along with key members of the leadership team, will focus on securing the 2025 RG Asian Championship, preparing for the upcoming FIG Congress, and strengthening ties within the SEA zone. The FIG Congress, scheduled for October 24-26 in Doha, Qatar, will also see representation from the organisation's leadership, furthering efforts to enhance regional and international participation.

The board also reviewed financial statements for FY23/24, showing a surplus of $302,000 along with the budget for FY24/25. Discussions included the allocation of funds raised through recent events and the use of reserve funds. The upcoming strategic plan for 2026-2029 was another focal point, with the engagement of a facilitator to guide the planning process.

In fundraising efforts, the board explored partnerships with external organisations to enhance SG’s fundraising capabilities, with an initial target of $25,000.

The meeting concluded with updates on the CEO’s activities and ongoing operational tasks, including preparations for the 2024 AGM and strategic staffing decisions.

This board meeting highlighted the organisation's proactive approach in securing its future, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning, financial stability, and enhanced communication within the board and with external stakeholders.
