Notes from the Board - Landscape of Gymnastics in Singapore

Published Tue 18 Feb 2025

The Board, at its meeting on 4 February 2025, agreed unanimously to support a research study by Portas Consulting into the gymnastics landscape in Singapore.

If we were to take a photograph of what gymnastics in Singapore looks like today, this study will describe the photograph in data. It will describe what gymnastics will look like through four lenses:

  1. Clubs and Competitions:

  • Affiliated clubs

  • Non-affiliated clubs

  • Affiliation and membership

  • Competition network

  1. Workforce:

  • Coach certification

  • Affiliation and development

  • Coaches

  • Judge certification

  • Affiliation and development

  • Judges

  1. Participation Pathways:

  • Mass participation

  • Club participation

  • Elite pipeline

  1. Facilities:

  • Supply

  • Utilisation and attendance

  • Operations

This is incredibly important research for Singapore Gymnastics, the first we have ever undertaken, because it will provide benchmark data for us to measure progress of our on-going investment into the domestic infrastructure and the gymnastics industry in SingaporeIt will provide data that will underpin the SG Business Plan FY26-29This landmark research is about all activity and clubs, not just Singapore Gymnastics and those clubs affiliate to Singapore GymnasticsThe research will take place over the next two months, and we eagerly anticipate draft findings for sharing at the 2025 Club Congress, proposed for 17 April.
