Singapore Gymnastics is pleased to announce the adoption of the amended Constitution from the 2018 AGM on Friday 30 August 2019 which has now been loaded on to the Singapore Gymnastics website.
Following the review of the Constitution by the Commissioner of Charities, SportSG and the Registrar of Societies five (5) minor amendments were made to the Constitution due to the request from the Registrar of Societies and pursuant to the 2018 AGM Resolution outlined below when the Constitution was approved these have been completed and adopted. The changes can be found in the document “5_Constitution Changes”.
The proposed amendments to SG’s Constitution tabled by the Management Committee along with any subsequent changes to these amendments if required by the Commissioner of Charities, or Sport Singapore as its Sector Administrator, and the Registrar of Societies; and the adoption of the amended Constitution immediately upon receiving written approval for the same from of the Commissioner of Charities and the Registrar of Societies.

As per the Constitution and clause 1.35 “Voting Members” means all Full and Club Members eligible to vote at a General Meeting.
Eligibility to be recognised as a Full or Club Member is according to Clause 5.1a and 5.1b
On the adoption of the Constitution, any Club that was affiliated that was recognised as a paid up Club Member of SG in 2018 and is as of 30 August 209 an affiliated Club in 2019, meeting all the criteria above will be recognised as a Voting Member at the 2019 AGM. Any Club not affiliated and fulfilling the criteria in 2019 will need to follow clause 6.4 and seek approval at the following AGM to be a recognized Voting Member moving forward:
Acceptance or removal of Full or Club Members shall be approved at the AGM by a resolution carried by at least two-thirds (2/3) of the votes recorded at the meeting. Full and Club Members newly accepted at an AGM may only exercise their voting rights after the AGM.
Under Clause 10.2 of the Constitution of Singapore Gymnastics, nominations must be proposed by a Voting Member.
All nominations for the Board election must reach the Association at least fourteen (14) days before the AGM, and any nominations thereafter shall be invalid. All nominations shall be submitted in prescribed forms and along with the required supporting documents as may be determined by the Board. All nominations must be proposed by a Voting Member and seconded by another Voting Member and shall include a declaration by the nominee of any personal or business interest that may be of concern to the Association or its members.
According to clause 10.3 nominees are required to be a Member of Singapore Gymnastics
Any Member of the Association, including a member of a Full, Associate or Club Member of the Association, may be nominated by a Voting Member to contest the Board elections.
Just a reminder that according to clause 8.8 of the Singapore Gymnastics Constitution
Any Member who wishes to place an item on the agenda of a General Meeting may do so provided he gives written notice to the Secretary at least one (1) week before the meeting is due to be held.
If any Voting Member would like to place an item on the agenda for the upcoming AGM, please send through written notification of the agenda item to gm@singaporegymnastics.org.sg before 7 September 2019.
The rest of the AGM papers, including the Annual Report and the Financial Statement will be released on the 14 September 2019.
