Notice Use of National Flag
Reminder on the appropriate use of the National Flag at local and overseas events.
Singapore Gymnastics (SG) has received feedback that there has been some confusion around the appropriate usage of our national flag and symbols at local and overseas events.
SG would like to remind all athletes, coaches, parents, and club owners that the usage of our National Flag and associated symbols is governed by the National Symbols Act and its regulations.
These are accessible at https://sso.agc.gov.sg/Act/NSA2022 and https://sso.agc.gov.sg/SL/NSA2022-S536-2023?DocDate=20230731.
You may also like to refer to National Heritage Board’s website at https://www.nhb.gov.sg/what-we-do/our-work/community-engagement/education/resources/national-symbols for relevant guidelines published by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).
In addition, and for greater clarity, SG has also reached out to MCCY and below are recommendations from MCCY:
For non-FIG sanctioned events, SG advice is that athletes should not have the National flag on their competition attire when competing as they are not representing the State.
We urge all members of our community to fully comply with these laws and regulations when participating in events both local and overseas.

Singapore Gymnastics Board
