As the National Sports Association (NSA) for Gymnastics in Singapore, Singapore Gymnastics (SG) is committed to make Gymnastics a safe environment for all. SG pledge to safeguard our athletes in the sporting environment from abuse and harassment which may undermine both the physical and mental health of our athletes, and the integrity of the sport.
Building a positive culture in sport is everyone’s responsibilities. In 2020, with sports competition on hold, several athletes shed the light on specific mistreatment episodes that they have experienced and suffered. Their calls and testimonies to put an end to such practices were heard. At SG, we are dedicated to ensure a harmonised and coordinated safeguarding framework across the Gymnastics ecosystem through organisations that are responsible for organising, administering and facilitating participation in Gymnastics.
As of December 2022, SG has joined The Safe Sport Commission Singapore as an Organisation that is committed to ‘The Safe Sport Programme’. The Safe Sport Programme comprises all the elements required to optimise the implementation of the Unified Code for sporting organisations. Which includes assistance and support in the following areas:
- Policymaking
- Training and Education
- Facilitating Support
- Case Management Service
- Access to Systems
- Accreditation
