Message from the President
Dear friends of Singapore Gymnastics,
Another year and yet another momentous event beckons. The 29th Southeast Asian Games promises to be an exciting time for our Gymnasts heading to Kuala Lumpur to compete in the biennial games.
We are looking forward to competing at the world class facilities at MiTEC. Having competed on home soil previously, it will certainly be a different encounter this year competing in Kuala Lumpur against the best that Southeast Asia has to offer. I am very sure that our Team Singapore athletes will learn and gain valuable experience by competing there.
SEA Games Singapore 2015 was a great experience for the members of our community as our athletes garnered a total of 8 medals. I would like to salute the commitment from the parents, athletes and coaches, which contributed to this success, and look forward to their continued dedication to ensure a rewarding time for our team competing in Kuala Lumpur.
As members of the Singapore Gymnastics community, I would like to see us getting behind the team to ensure that we do our Lion City proud on our 52nd birthday.
For the athletes, remember that each time you step onto the competition arena bearing the flag on your chest, you are carrying the pride of a nation. The flag is the reason why we exist, and I urge all of you to do us proud and put in your very best. Compete in the good spirit of the games. Set the bar high for yourself and aim for your personal bests.
For the coaches who have provided personal guidance for our athletes, I implore you to stay focused and continue being a strong mentor and guiding light for the athletes who look up to you. Keep up the good work to advise, support and motivate them.
For the family and friends who are a part of the community, thank you for being the force behind team. Your contributions will never be forgotten.
I wish you all the best at the SEA Games 2017.
Mr Choy Kah Kin
President, Singapore Gymnastics
