Singapore Gymnastics (SG) is proud to announce that we have been awarded the 2022 Charity Transparency Award! The Charity Council introduced the inaugural Charity Transparency Awards (CTA) in 2016. The CTA recognizes charities with good disclosure practices that the Charity Transparency Framework (CTF) recommends.

We are extremely grateful to be awarded this award, and it is crucial to us that we share with everyone the importance behind this as a charity organization handling public money. As one of the National Sports Association (NSA) representing Gymnastics in Singapore, SG receives financial grants annually from the Ministry of Community, Culture, and Youth (MCCY) through Sport Singapore. As well as donations and financial contributions from stakeholders, sponsors, corporate entities, and the public to fund our operations and programs. We strive to be open and transparent for the accountability to stakeholders and club members because we value trust, and we believe that it is vital for us to maintain the trusting relationship built among our community to us to progress Gymnastics in Singapore.

The CTF is closely aligned to the Code of Governance for Charities and Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs), with nine key dimensions highlighted as key areas for disclosure. The nine key dimensions include:

  1. Board and Executive Management
  2. Strategic Direction and Programme Management
  3. Human Resource Management
  4. Management of Conflict of Interest
  5. Financial Management and Internal Controls
  6. Conduct of Fundraising Activities
  7. Auditor’s Report
  8. Timeliness of Disclosure
  9. Other Commendable areas

To be eligible for the assessment, charities must:

  • Be a registered charity and / or an IPC which has been in operation in Singapore for at least three years
  • Have submitted their Annual Reports, Financial Statements and Governance Evaluation Checklists (GECs) for the two immediate preceding financial years, with the later year’s submission being an on-time submission
  • Have gross annual receipts of not less than $50,000 in the immediate preceding financial year

Subsequently, eligible charities will automatically be selected to be assessed by a group of independent assessors and validators using publicly available sources of information such as:

  • Annual Reports, Financial Statements and Governance Evaluation Checklists (GECs)
  • Charities’ official websites; and
  • Facebook page (if any)

At Singapore Gymnastics, we would like to share this joyful occasion and extend our gratitude to everyone who have supported us throughout! This would not have been made possible without all of you all, so thank you!
