On Saturday, 18 August 2018, Singapore Gymnastics (SG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Republic polytechnic (RP).
This partnership will give students from the Sport Management and Sport Coaching courses more learning opportunities and equip them with knowledge and skills for a career in traditional sports.
The MOU aims to cover:
- Joint projects or industrial attachment for RP staff.
- Local/overseas internships for students, and/or their Final Year Projects.
- Issuing complimentary invitations to conferences and workshops.
- Joint organization, promotion and/or co-branding of events.
- Scholarships and/or book prizes to RP students.
- Developing and implementing best practices in the sports industry.
- Developing and extending the knowledge and reach of sports and any related industries
- Incorporating knowledge gained from relevant SG projects into suitable modules’ curriculums in RP.
Mr Choy Kah Kin, President of the Singapore Gymnastics, said, “Singapore Gymnastics is glad to have this collaboration with the Republic Polytechnic. We both share the common interest to raise the standard of coaching in Singapore. We look forward to working together in curriculum development, training delivery as well as potential joint projects that will benefit students, athletes and coaches.
Both SG and RP will also work together to improve the Fundamental Gymnastics Coaches Course curriculum which will benefit both the sport coaching students and the gymnastics coaching community.
A Fundamental Gymnastics Coaches Course will be held this 9 & 27 September 2018, and anyone interested can register for it. For interested parties, more details will be released soon.
