During the period of 1-3 December 2021, Singapore Gymnastics conducted the RG SGDP camps for young budding RG athletes and their coaches as part of their progress along the high-performance pathway at the Sengkang Sports Hall, abiding by the prevailing safe management measures.
A total of 26 gymnasts from 4 clubs and the National Training Centre participated in the enriching sessions, along with their coaches. The participants gained deep insight on the topics presented by the NTC coaches (Dr Berfin Serdil Ors, Ms Irina Bessmertnaya and Ms Anastasiia Fokina). The NTC coaches presented on topics such as Techniques for Flexibilities and Battements, Development of Speed-Strength Qualities, Practising Difficulty Apparatus, Coordination and Agility and Physical Preparation.
On the last day of the SGDP Camp, all participating gymnasts had physical testing which enables coaches to identify any area that needs to be improved and developed for the mastery of more difficult skills in the future. The data collected would also contribute to SG’s longitudinal studies of systemic strengths and weaknesses which can be targeted in the future.
To conclude the RG SGDP Camp 1-3 December, NYSI also conducted a Body-Resilience Workshop with the SGDP participants to equip them with the knowledge and skills to have greater awareness of a body-positive image.
SG would like to thank all the NTC coaches and NYSI for their hard work putting together the schedules and providing the technical expertise.
