Singapore Gymnastics is delighted to announce the appointment of our inaugural full-time Participation Pathway Officer, Emma Koh, who will be joining SG on January 15, 2024.
In her role, Emma will play a crucial part in enhancing SG's collaboration with the ActiveSG Programmes and developing connections with the Ministry of Education (MOE) in growing gymnastics in schools. Beyond these affiliations, Emma will be actively involved in nurturing the grassroots of the sport by further implementing and promoting SG's KinderGym and Fitter for Life programs. Work will not stop there as Emma will charge ahead to look at other way that SG can connect with the community and grow the participation of the sport of gymnastics across the island.
Emma, who relocated to Singapore from New Zealand at the age of 12 and now considers Singapore her home, holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Kinesiology from York University in Toronto, Canada.
Upon her return to Singapore from Canada, Emma immersed herself in the fitness world, accumulating over 15 years of experience as a personal trainer and eventually as a club manager. Additionally, Emma is a certified Pilates and Aerial Yoga instructor. Since obtaining the Fundamental Coach Accreditation from Singapore Gymnastics in 2020, she has continuously upgraded her skills while actively coaching and managing a SG-affiliated gymnastics club.
Emma's affinity for gymnastics dates back to her childhood as a gymnast. She firmly believes that gymnastics lays the foundation for fundamental movement, with skills acquired in the sport readily transferrable to various areas of life, offering incredible long-term health benefits. With a solid gymnastics foundation, children can approach other sports with courage and confidence.
Emma is thrilled to be joining the team at Singapore Gymnastics and is committed to ensuring gymnastics is accessible to all children nationwide and to actively engage all Singaporeans in leading a healthy, active lifestyle from an early age. Through this initiative, she aims to instil a culture of wellness among young Singaporeans that will endure into their adult lives.
