The Singapore Gymnastics Board is actively advancing governance reforms to enhance the organisation's overall efficiency. These initiatives were a focal point of the board’s monthly meeting in May 2024.
The Board reviewed the results of the FY 2023 Singapore Gymnastics Club & Community Survey, which aims to measure satisfaction, engagement, communication effectiveness, and areas for improvement and innovation. Key issues identified in 2023 include:
· Lack of survey responses
· Limited knowledge of affiliation benefits among members
· Inadequate communication and education regarding existing benefits
· Need for increased membership benefits and engagement
· Desire for improved overall communication and responsiveness
Proposed Actions:
· Review and revise the current survey to boost response rates
· Enhance engagement through targeted marketing and incentives
· Improve communication channels to promote member benefits
· Explore enhancements to current benefits
· Ensure consistent implementation of CQAP benefits
· Implement strategies to continuously improve communication consistency
Singapore Gymnastics is preparing to bid for the 2025 RG Asian Championships. Key points discussed include:
· Host country decision to be made at the September 2024 AGU EC meeting
· Proposed schedule to coincide with SG Open and involve local schools (21-25 May 2025)
· Venue: OCBC Arena, confirmed available
· Sustainability measures, such as using public transport for foreign delegates
· Secured funding support from SportSG
· Milestones and bid documentation to be prepared by July, with a target readiness date of September 2024
The Board reviewed the current operational plan, considering the existing resource constraints to ensure the delivery of key initiatives. The Board agreed to the National Office’s recommendations to re-evaluate some high-level priorities and scale back certain activities to be addressed in 2025.
There is a vacancy in the fundraising subcommittee, and a suitable candidate has been identified. The National office will follow up with a candidate to fill the vacancy. The Fundraising Committee plans to meet soon to discuss the next fundraising initiatives.
The Board discussed the strategic plan, the allocation of financial resources, and changes to the planning day. The RFP will be revised and distributed to potential consultants.
A circular resolution for committee approval is proposed to be sent the week of 13 May once the applications have been consolidated.
The financials as of February 2024 show a projected surplus of $158,000. An additional surplus is anticipated from the National Championships and grant fund allocations.
