The Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Technical and Advisory Committee (TAC) held a productive meeting on September 1, 2024, via Microsoft Teams, focusing on key updates and decisions that will shape the gymnastics community in the coming year.

The agenda covered a broad spectrum of topics, including proposed changes to the National Programme, judging criteria, and the organisation of future events. The discussions cantered on making gymnastics more accessible and enjoyable for participants, adjusting floor routines and technical skills across various levels, and ensuring clarity and consistency in judging practices. The committee emphasised the importance of gathering community feedback and testing new elements before finalising any decisions.

Additionally, the meeting addressed competition organisation, with an aim to encourage participation at all levels, considering financial implications, and discussing administrative matters such as judge training. The committee outlined plans to further explore the proposed changes, gather additional input, and maintain transparent communication with the community throughout the process.

Key Highlights:

  • 2025 Competition Calendar: Draft dates for major competitions were shared, including the Lunar Competition in February and the National Championships in March. The community is advised to stay tuned for final dates, considering potential scheduling conflicts with FIG international courses.
  • Changes to Levels 1-5: The TAC discussed proposed changes to the Levels 1-5 program, including adjustments to floor routines and judging criteria. Feedback from the community is being sought, with final decisions expected by October.
  • Directives for National Championships: Significant changes were proposed, including the removal of team awards for Levels 1-2 and the exploration of adding awards for 1st to 8th place. The TAC is also considering how to accommodate older athletes in specific levels.
  • Judges International Course: Singapore Gymnastics is looking to host the Judges International Course in early 2025, which will help strengthen the local judging community and enhance Singapore's reputation on the international stage.

These updates reflect Singapore Gymnastics' ongoing commitment to developing the sport and ensuring the community is well-prepared for upcoming challenges and opportunities. More details and feedback opportunities will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Future meetings are scheduled to finalise decisions on routines, skills, and competition structures, with a continued focus on supporting athlete development and ensuring fair competition.
