Primary Purpose of the Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Community Development Manager in promoting the sport of gymnastics through the Singapore Gymnastics and ActiveSG programmes and initiatives.  This links directly to the sport’s strategic pillar of Participation and will play a role in advocating the benefits of fundamental movement programs for all Singapore children.  In particular, the role is to:

  • Increase participation in gymnastics through the implementation of participation programs and activities;
  • Oversee the coordination, promotion and implementation of
    • SG’s KinderGym programme
    • ActiveSG Gymnastics Academy programme
    • SG’s “Gentle Gym” programme
    • SG’s “National Proficiency” programme in schools
  • To improve the capability of coaches and teachers to deliver SG and ActiveSG gymnastics participation programmes;
  • To develop and improve the capabilities of affiliated clubs to deliver ActiveSG programmes
  • To foster and strengthen relationships between Singapore Gymnastics and affiliated Clubs
  • To prepare communication, plans and reports as required to track the progress of the implementation of the participation programmes

Job Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Openly share and distribute information which is relevant;
  • Promote and support SG programs, regulations and policies at all times;
  • Ensure the GM and relevant staff are briefed on key events, projects, and key issues;
  • Produce high quality and professional correspondence, documentation and reports;
  • Contribute to a positive organisational culture which is focused on delivering results and excellence in service provision.

Sport Development

  • Work with affiliated Clubs to support the implementation of ActiveSG Gymnastics Academies and SG participation programmes;
  • Manage the “day to day “operations and the quality control of ActiveSG Gymnastics Academies;
  • Implementation of the club/school engagement strategy;
  • Provide administrative support to facilitate all participation activities and programmes;
  • Track and report on participation growth within Singapore;

Club Development

  • Work with SG affiliated clubs to assist them in delivering ActiveSG Gymnastics Academies;
  • Work with the club’s coaches to ensure that coaching is being delivered to an appropriate level in line with the programmes and philosophies of SG and ActiveSG.
  • Ensure adoption and compliance of the SG Safe Children Programme;

Education

  • Deliver training courses and professional development opportunities for presenters, coaches, judges and teachers;
  • Assist with the updating and maintenance of SG-Coach Database;

Communication

  • Manage and deliver all member communication and including promotional materials, newsletters and general correspondence around SG participation programmes and ActiveSG Gymnastics Academies;
  • Manage the website content relating to SG participation programmes and ActiveSG Gymnastics Academies;
  • Implement social media strategies in conjunction with the Community Development Manager

Assist with any other general duties within the SG office as directed by the GM.

Qualification Requirements

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate tertiary qualification in Education (trained teacher) or Training and Assessment;

OR

  • Undergraduate tertiary qualification preferable in sport management, small business management, workplace training and assessment or similar;
  • Experience in delivering Fundamental Movement programmes
  • Sport coaching qualifications highly desirable
  • First Aid Level 1 or 2
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Fluency & proficiency in spoken & written English.
