Successful Fitter for Life Workshop Empowers Coaches to Support Active Aging

Published Fri 14 Mar 2025

Singapore Gymnastics recently conducted a Fitter for Life workshop led by experienced physiotherapist Karen Koh, equipping coaches with the knowledge and skills to support seniors in staying active and healthy. The session saw eight enthusiastic participants from various gymnastics clubs, all eager to expand their expertise in working with older adults.

The Fitter for Life program is designed to provide safe and effective exercise options for seniors. Falls are a major concern among seniors, and the Fitter for Life program focuses on strengthening mobility, balance, and coordination to reduce fall risks in a safe and supportive environment.

With Singapore’s aging population on the rise, these initiatives are crucial in ensuring long-term health and independence for older adults.

Participants gained insights into injury prevention, movement modifications, and age-appropriate exercise progressions, helping clubs enhance their offerings to include inclusive programs for all age groups. The successful workshop reflects Singapore Gymnastics’ commitment to broadening gymnastics beyond youth participation and making it a sport for life.

With positive feedback and growing interest, Singapore Gymnastics looks forward to conducting more Fitter for Life workshops, encouraging clubs to integrate senior-friendly classes into their programs.

Stay tuned for upcoming workshops and opportunities to expand your club’s impact in the community!
