The 2025 High Performance Symposium will launch on November 25 at 9:00 a.m. with an engaging and timely workshop led by Liyan Huang, Team Lead of Sport Nutrition and Senior Sport Dietitian at the Singapore Sport Institute. This first workshop, titled "Building Body Confidence and Resilience in Gymnastics – A Workshop for Coaches," is designed to equip gymnastics coaches with essential tools to support their athletes’ body image and overall confidence.
Liyan Huang brings extensive expertise to the Symposium, as she leads a team of dietitians at Singapore Sport Institute, where she provides nutrition support to athletes across various sports, including gymnastics, badminton, and table tennis. Her leadership extends to applied research projects focusing on athlete health and performance, especially around the impact of vitamin D on indoor athletes. Liyan holds degrees in Food Science and Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, and a specialized diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee, making her an invaluable resource for this vital discussion.
The workshop will dive into the Four Pillars of Body Confidence framework, crafted in partnership with Singapore Gymnastics, to guide coaches in creating environments that foster positive body image and resilience among athletes. Since the introduction of these guidelines in 2021, they have been instrumental in helping gymnasts, families, coaches, and staff understand and promote body confidence across all ages, genders, and levels of gymnastics.
This session promises to be a powerful opener for the High Performance Symposium, setting the tone for a series of workshops aimed at enhancing the physical and mental well-being of athletes, with a strong focus on supporting a positive and sustainable sporting environment.
Join us for this inspiring start to the Symposium and the chance to build a better, more supportive landscape for athletes at all stages of their journeys.
