Having a coaching philosophy that includes parents 

 

Presenter: Gordon Maclelland (Working with Parents in Sports)

 

Given the central role of parents in club sports, coaches and sport club administrators must be prepared to deal with parents on a regular and ongoing basis and to respond to their needs. This workshop is grounded in a philosophy that embraces parents as an important part of the club sport experience and aid the development of the athletes coached.

Targeted observation & feedback to progress your athletes

 

Presenter: Condrey Liu (SportSG)

 

Observation Skills and feedback are critical to coaching. They allow coaches to develop their athletes in skill development and seek improvement within a session. This interactive session will give coaches opportunity to practice their observation skills around some key concepts and provide effective feedback during a session.

Incorporating dance & artistry in your gymnastics programme

Artistry plays a huge part in gymnastics! This workshop will provide an introduction to different styles of music, basic dance step style, theory of rhythm, dance and much more! Coaches can also look forward to learning how to use the power of expression to improve on artistry more effectively.

Introduction to TeamGym

Singapore Gymnastics is looking to introduce TeamGym where athletes get to choreograph and participate in floor, tumbling and single mini trampoline in the lead up to Gym Carnival this November. This workshop is meant to run coaches through the various formations, practice ideas and skills list for all novice, intermediate and advanced athletes and for coaches try it out for themselves.

Supporting body confidence in Gymnastics

 

Presenter: Liyan Huang (SSI)

 

There are many and varied factors which contribute to body image and sports participation can certainly play an important role in contributing to both negative and positive body image. Singapore Gymnastics is encouraging all members, athletes and staff to consider ways we can individually and collectively contribute towards environments where gymnasts are more likely to feel positive and good in their bodies as much of the time as possible.

This workshop will discuss the concept of body image, the factors that impact body image and how we can collectively contribute to enhancing and maintaining body confidence in all gymnasts, across all disciplines, genders, ages and levels.

  Developing somersault skills on the trampoline

  Presenter: Jeanette Tan

This is an open discussion sharing of the more commonly used spotting techniques for fronts and back somersaults on trampoline and sharing her experience to spotting athletes of all shapes and sizes as a petite coach.
