A month ago SG published Return to Training (RTT) recommendations based on the situation to that point. After being unable to train for a further month these recommendations need to be updated.
Even though clubs have done a fantastic job of staying engaged with athletes during Circuit Breaker and Phase 1, athletes still detrain as they miss all the incidental movement they would normally have done (eg: walking to the bus stop, playing at school, etc).
The primary update is the duration of time required to get athletes back to their pre-CB levels. Specifically, because the time of detraining has doubled, the time to return to full training should be doubled.
So, rather than looking at a 4 week plan, clubs and coaches should look at an 8 week plan of gradual return.
Please also check out the NYSI recommendations which have recently developed.
