Singapore Gymnastics (SG) proudly joined the Safe Sport Programme in 2022, emphasising our unwavering commitment to safe sport and athlete well-being. Our journey, which began in 2018 with the adoption of the Child Commitment Statement, has inspired affiliated Gymnastics Clubs to create their own Child Commitment Statements.
But our dedication doesn't stop there:
Our commitment extends to coaches, with a requirement for coaches registered as Technical Members with SG to complete the SportSG Safe Sport module.
Safe Sport is woven into the very fabric of SG's culture, policies, and procedures. Our Codes of Conduct for all stakeholders, along with a Child Safe Policy alongside the Member Protection Policy, ensure Safe Sport in every facet of our work.
Our Child Safe Policy serves several vital purposes:
This policy is a cornerstone of our Safe Sport Plan, which includes educational workshops, courses, and online modules. SG deemed the policy so important that there are versions of the policy in Chinese and Russian as well. We've aligned our processes with the Safe Sport Unified Code, the national framework for safeguarding in sports.
Safe Sport is an ongoing journey, marked by our unwavering commitment to continuous improvement. We're thrilled to have your support as we work together to ensure child safety and athlete well-being.
SportSG now offers five educational modules related to safe sport which crosses all key stakeholders in the sport. This year, the Volunteer module was introduced to complement the existing four modules for coaches, athletes, administrators, and parents. If you're eager to explore and complete a module, we welcome your participation.
