RG National Programme 2025 & Beyond

RG National Programme

1.     Introduction

Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) was first established under Singapore Gymnastics (SG) in 2005.

This document outlines SG’s Rhythmic Gymnastics National Programme and the general technical rules used for Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions organised by Singapore Gymnastics. This document is to be read in conjunction with the specific competition directives.

2.     New Rhythmic Gymnastics National Programme Overview

The primary objective guiding this endeavour is the development of a comprehensive Rhythmic National Programme designed to prioritise a holistic athlete pathway and competition structure that accomplishes the following key goals:

a)      Elevating the overall standards of Rhythmic Gymnastics in Singapore.

b)      Seamlessly aligning with the FIG Age Group program.

c)       Attracting clubs and schools from across Singapore, encouraging their active participation in the program.

d)      Achieving a remarkable 50% increase in participation at the Singapore National Championships by the year 2028.

e)      Establishing a unified Programme that:

                                i.            Fosters increased participation.

ii.            Provides a consistent developmental pathway.

iii.            Ensures strong performance at the international level.

The development of this program will adhere to a set of guiding principles, which will serve as the foundational values and benchmarks throughout its creation, refinement, and decision-making processes:

a)      Upholding Fairness and Transparency: Ensuring fairness and transparency in all aspects of the Programme.

b)      Promoting an Encouraging Judging System: Encouraging a judging system that inspires improvement rather than penalising mistakes.

c)       Pursuing Score Consistency: Striving for consistency in scoring across different competitions.

d)      Allowing Participation Pathway Flexibility: Granting flexibility in the participation pathway for gymnasts.

e)      Alignment with FIG: Aligning the Programme with the direction set by FIG.

f)       Ensuring Professional Presentation: Committing to a professional and high-quality presentation of the final programme.

g)      Maintaining Clarity of Rules: Ensuring that rules and requirements remain clear and easily comprehensible.

h)      Ensuring Feasibility of Implementation: Guaranteeing that the Programme is feasible for implementation in both training and competition.

i)        Promoting Efficiency of Implementation: Encouraging efficiency in Programme implementation at both training and competition levels.

j)        Incorporating Progressive Levels: Including progressive levels to accommodate gymnasts' ongoing development.

The new National Programme is split into 2 different pathways:

1.      Elite Pathway

2.      National Pathway

The pathways will differ in terms of objectives and scoring system.

The Elite Pathway is intended to prepare gymnasts following a high intensity training schedule for the highest level of national and international competition while the National Pathway is intended to provide a well-rounded training experience focused on promoting participation and general gymnastics development.

The Elite Pathway will strictly follow the FIG Code of Points while the National Pathway will follow a modified version of the FIG Code of Points and will not be comparable to Elite Pathway scores.

Please refer to the detailed explanation for each pathway in the following sections.

The implementation of the new national programme by Singapore Gymnastics will officially take effect in 2025. For competition specific rules and programme, please refer to the specific competition directives.
